Branded ROM updates will have to filter through your carrier so it gets the appropriate branding by them. This is most likely what is holding up the update. And if your carrier does not pay for the upgrade it may never come.

All,

My wife got her update from 3 UK (locked and branded phone) the other day. It's all good except that now sometimes the phone will turn on with data off and will not turn it on unless we do it manually. All settings are there for staying connected all the time, but this continues to happen. Any clue?

Thanks,
Luiz

Still I didn't see any updates in Czech Republic. Is there anyway to get updated?

Do I need to select (Tick or UnTick) any other options before I click "Menu -> Settings -> About Phone -> Software Updates"?

Twice in a day I'm kept checking the software updates via the above option, but I didnt see any updates so far.

Everyone else is getting updates excluding me ;-)

Any help will be very helpful for me.

@ nr_shan - what network are you on - I am on t-mobile and haven't seen anything yet. They have just started sending out the sensation update, so hopefully we are after that.

You can also dial the following to check for updates:

Your phone is probably like mine branded, whereas hers is probably not and thus got the unbranded update which has been out for a while. Did you get your phone from the operator and hers from carphone warehouse?

Finally, 2.3.5 and Sense 3.0 updates received today on branded Orange DHD. Uneventful installation, but phone is noticeably slower - maybe it will settle down after a few days and a restart or two.

Edit: Has settled down after a couple of restarts and cache cleaning. I think the main culprit was the Gingerbread Keyboard app I was using. Deleted and reinstalled, much better. Only thing now is it says there's only 126mb memory free now, and I'm sure it was 300mb with v2.3.2...

Interesting it must mean t-mobile can't be that far behind....

And I am right - its available for me to download....

So time to make a full backup and send myself a list of my apps in case anything goes wrong. Will be interesting to see if it looks decent.

Currently I am running the Go Launcher with ICS theme and widget locker using the ICS theme - everyone keeps on thinking I have a new phone running ICS - quite funny. But will give Sense 3.0 a play and see how we go, but can see me going back to Go Launcher.

Ok my impressions of the T-Mobile version --> not too bad - very occasional hiccups - hopefully as the system settles down they will go away totally as Android learns to live with a slightly more bloated version of sense.

what I like - nothing much about the new Rom - I sort of like the menu bar options now available in gallery and contacts but was quite happy using the slider across the bottom. the only real benefit I see is the new shooting modes on the camera - time will tell if they have sorted out the white balance when shooting with flash. Answer mode working a bit like the lock screen makes far more sense and should help to prevent the slider issue of answering the phone while taking it out a pocket. Gallery looks marginally better. Calendar is a definite improvement all around. I like the memory option that you can access from the pull down bar - not useful but its still pretty cool - would have loved it in earlier versions. I like some of the new settings options - not something I use a lot but can see them being useful and less well specd phones i.e. clear cache - memory warnings - how much stored for each app etc.

What I dislike -
why why have most of the apps gone to a light theme - much prefer the dark theme they had - or they could at least have given us a choice.
the lockscreen - ICS is better, and while there are some lock screen themes you have to pick one of them and then you only get a choice of changing what you unlock to. Do yourselves a favour and purchase widget locker - you can now have the ICS, or Sense 3 or any other lockscreen, yet you have the ability to really customize it from the wall paper to what widgets go where.
Not a fan of the way SMS works now.
web browser is definitely slower - or maybe its just the hesitation before it provides a fully loaded page that makes it seem slower.

So I am back on go launcher with ICS theme which looks really awesome with heaps of customization options, and widget locker as my go to lock screen, using the ICS theme, with only camera and unlock options, black background, beautiful weather 5 day widget across the top, and  in the middle battery circle on the left and date & time on the right.
