HTC Desire HD - rooting and Sense UI

I've been thinking about rooting my HTC Desire HD (from Orange UK) so that I can get rid of all the network installed rubbish and make the handset a bit more streamlined. However, I was wondering if the process ends up stripping out HTC Sense and replacing it with the stock Android 2.1 OS. I quite like Sense (although I do prefer the way the launcher works in stock Android), so I'd rather not loose it. Would somebody be able to confirm.

Also, I hear FroYo may well be coming to the Desire HD towards the end of the month/early July. Is there any benefit to waiting for FroYo, or should I go ahead with the rooting process anyway?

Just wondering - does your rooted handset with android 2.1 let you install apps to SD?

Guys the new HTC Desire HD is releasing and I want to know whether the phone can be unlocked or rooted. Is there anyone who knows how to do it?

2.1 won't install Apps2Sd without a custom ROM. Desire HD's ROM has been released (search XDA for that one), and apparently, unrEVOked can be used on any HTC device.

I agree with XSaenen that HTCsense.com will not work with other devices unless HTC lets it. HTC is very nitpicky about it, and will enforce it via the serial number. Goldcards might work here though...
