Hi having problems with my new desire hd, connecting to another phone (a nokia), and other handsfree car devices. I have seen quite a bit in the forums, however little in the way of solutions unless discussing pc connection, I have even accidentally registered on the desire forum (not desire hd), after searching via google.

Deleting the bluetooth connection and reentering the pin/passcode results in the same 'paired but not connected'. Evidently the phones CAN detect each other as there is a file transfer app on the desire that worked fine, but not connecting to other phones (nokia or blackberry), handsfree etc.
I have read the manual I downloaded from htc.com, and despite following the process (turns out repeatedly) it doesnt connect to 'them'.

Any advise would be appreciated, and happy to provide clarification.

Also if someone could tell me if I need to unregister from the other forum....that'd be great.

Hi there. I had problems connecting my new HTC Desire HD to my new Volvo V60 via Bluetooth. Both devices could see each other and would initially connect for a short time and even allow me to make a phone call but then they'd both develop amnesia and forget each other. The phone would say "paired but not connected". I tried several reconnections, reinstalls etc to no avail. I had been eagerly awaiting the official Gingerbread update as I won't root my phone (at least not till I'm more clued up) but neither HTC or O2 made any contact to inform me of availability. I was playing with the phone yesterday and happened upon the system update option and decided to see whether there was a Bluetooth update available. I couldn't believe it when I realised that Gingerbread was sitting there waiting to be downloaded. I installed it and no changes were made to applications already installed or settings. When I climbed in my car to go home the phone connected to the hands free perfectly! The first couple of times I had to manually tell the car to connect to the phone but now it does it automatically with no user intervention. Another bonus is that HTC Sync works properly on my work desktop. The phone would see the desktop and vice versa but they wouldn't sync but with Gingerbread they connect. My advice – get Gingerbread as soon as you ca
