I've read many threads and tips on improving my battery life for the HTC Desire HD. After completing a battery calibration with out rooting, I woke to a battery life of 1 day and 14 hours. After checking my Yahoo Email and facebook for 5 minutes, I tested the Battery Minder app and my battery reduced to 1 day and 1 hour in only 5 minutes. Where did the 13 hours of life go?

Now my HTC Desire HD has been running for 17 hours and 2 minutes with 11 hours remaining. This is what I have done today.

Made 3 calls.. (about 2 minutes each)
Ran Internet for about 4 hours
Checked facebook and Email about five times during the Internet service
Listened to music for about 40 minutes
Use WiFi from 4:00 PM to now (2:40 AM) at home
Bluetooth, snyc, and nearly everything I don't use is turned off, included GPS.

Is this a good reading for this battery?

I have seen a friends battery reminder that indicates 2 days and 5 hours on the HTC Desire. Why does the HD series use so much more?

I need some tips on increasing my battery life. I recently went on a day trip on a bus and the battery only lasted 10 hours using facebook, a few SMS, and 5 calls.

Get external battery. It is IMPOSSIBLE to increase battery life, get real people. All those topics about increasing battery are crap. It's like someone claimed to be able to drive A6 on 3 liters per 100 kilometers. It just is not possible. Don't you think manufacturers would do something about it it they could? You think that anonymous people in various forums know more than engineers in HTC or Samsung? You can turn off anything you want, you won't get better battery life - the screen draws most power, so if you are able to use your device without screen you might be able to do something Smiley

By switching off all the bells and whistles and changing all syncing to manual you can improve battery life a lot. The battery also gets used up quite a bit when searching for a signal - so to extend also switch from 3G to 2G - you can always switch back if you need it, and if you loose signal switch over to plane mode to conserve.

While at home connected to wifi - my phone barely uses anything while not being used, compared to work where connected via 3G/2G and it bounces a bit, my usage is almost double (would suggest switching to 2G if you don't use your data connection much) and when comparing it to a friends house where I get no coverage, my battery usage is 4 times that of my home, twice that of my works - in future I will switch to flight mode when at their house...

When you think about it it really does make sense
