As per title.

I had a Nokia N95, great phone, and lasted for over two years.  Great, reliable fun while it lasted.

Over to you, what did you have?

I had an N95 8GB - pretty good phone until it started to do strange things over the past 12 months. Been looking for a replacement for a while and saw HTC Android phones here in TH; looked good and something different to what I already had and *not* an iPhone.  Wink

Then the Nexus One was released and I looked at its specs - had to get my hands on one!

None available here, so on a visit to Singapore I priced and nearly died!!!! Figured I'd wait until the exchange rate stabilised. That was until late last month when HTC released the Desire HD.

Now this *is* a smartphone and the specs said it all for me. Picked one up a week ago and very, very pleased with its capabilities and looks. It ticks all the boxes for me: specs, looks, interface, available *useful* apps. And it's unlocked, unbranded (HTC only) right out of the box.  Cool

Sure, its no iPhone, but if I had wanted one of those, I would have bought one, right? Grin

I had a LG Renior before. Good phone when it came out but not a patch on the Desire HD.

I had the Bllckberry Storm (9500) original Phone when it was first released.

I will never get a Blackberry touch Phone again ...

I traded my Storm in at http://www.simplydrop.co.uk ( royal Mail ) and got £50 for it ...
In fact I got rid of all my Old Phones using SimplyDrop and got just under £150 ..lol

I had the Nokia E51 as my "Phone" phone and the iPhone 3G as my "Apps" phone. I scrapped both and got the Desire HD as my "Smart" phone.

Switched from an iPhone 3G.

Got fed with the 'my way or the highway' attitude of Jobs & co, so did not want to renew for a 3GS  or 4G.

It was a toss up between the Desire HD or  Blackberry Storm 2.

Went for the Desire HD and very glad I did.

Of the recent 5 years the phones i have had are

Nokia N95 - on Orange network - Good phone, Great sound.
Iphone - on O2 - Ahhh i'd found the perfect phone.
Iphone 3G - on O2 - Again, I'd found the perfect phone.
Iphone 3GS - on O2 - another great phone, but now was starting to get fed up with how Apple was lagging behind other manufacturers in hardware like camera specs.
Wasn't going to purchase an Iphone 4.
Dell Streak - on O2 - Great Android Tablet with built in phone, was fantastic for surfing and email while out and about but was just no good for phone calls as it was way to large, got rid of it after 2 weeks and am waiting for my Desire HD to be delivered, can't wait...

I'm very loyal to my brands ... but there is a limit to my loyalty.  Here's the last 6 or 7 years.

Mitsubishi m21i (x3)
Imode handset.  Each one wore out the charging pin quite fast, not covered by warranty.
I owned one of the largest imode portals, so they were used extensively for site testing and browsing for interesting links.

Mitsubishi m342i
Imode handset. Very good phone, sold it to a friend when I bought my first Mitsu m430i

Mitsubishi m430i (x2)
Imode handset. My first one had unstable software so I sold it cheap.  2nd one (dutch import) was just excellent.

Then imode was coming to an end and Mitsubishi stopped selling mobile phones.  The m430i suddenly lost all of it's appeal due to being unable to use the normal internet.
As a result I was forced to switch brands, and because mitsubishi had the space bar on the "#" button (as opposed to Nokia having it on the "0" button) I went for a Sony Ericsson.

Sony Ericsson K510i
Very good value for money, exchanged it for the w910i the day that came out.

Sony Ericsson W910i
All in all a good phone, but too expensive when I bought it (450 €).  OS crashed about a year later and I went to the shop to have it repaired, but there I immediately fell in love with the C905i and traded it in on the spot.  I got 40 € for it.  That's 410 € of depreciation in a year or so.

Sony Ericsson C905i
Great phone, epic camera (8 megapixel Cyber-Shot).  Still love it to bits but it's currently in for repairs due to charging problems and swapping phone numbers and contacts at random.  Updating the software didn't help.
Real funny problem that.  Dialing a contact was like roulette.  You may select the right name, but you never know who it's actually calling.
It stopped being funny when the phone decided that I should order my pizza at my local police station.

While in the shop I saw the Sony Ericsson Satio and almost bought one on the spot, but they only had the one on display so I went home and did some searches on Satio reviews (and problems).
That afternoon I bought my HTC Desire HD.

I still intend to keep the C905 once it's repaired, but as a second phone and mostly for camera and mp3 duties.

I had an LG Secret last. As a mobile phone it was great. Good reception; good clarity listing and, according to the people I phoned, good voice transmission. I changed because the Secret was odd in the way it handled its contact list and the camera wasn't wonderful.

I've been a tad disappointed with the Desire HD in this most basic of function.

Nokia N95 and E71.

Both are great phones but way (way way...) behind the Desire HD...

The Desire HD is my first smartphone. Before that and still in use as emergency mobiles, one in the car, is a Sony Ericsson W910i and a Nokia 6300. Both good as mobiles - and both got much better signal reception in my house than the Desire HD does. No idea why.
