I'm thinking of buying the HTC Desire HD. With my present organiser (Palm) I can sync and back up (either way) my contacts and calender with MS outlook on my PC. Can I do this with the Desire HD. Can I for instance download all my contacts when I get my Desire HD from PC to the phone etc.  Many Thanks

hi Thom, I'm Kate from UK, and the answer to your question is yes, you can. I have just got my HTC Desire HD yesterday and it says you can do all that stuff!

Hi, I just have joined the forum, and I hope I can get some help out of it.
I am using an HTC Desire HD and I like it, but I have experienced difficulties when syncing with MS Outlook 2007:

- I initially sync'd from Outlook to HTC oneway: I noticed that those contact infos with the
fields FIRST and LAST NAME left blank, it shows up on the HTC with filled NULL NULL.
After syncing both ways all the respective contact infos on Outlook also show now
  NULL NULL.
Also, the address fields got messed up (corrupt?) and showed, with irregular pattern, also
NULL NULL, sometimes in the city field, sometimes in the zip code field, etc.

- I also noted that the notes from Outlook are not completely transferred either.

I have rebooted HTC, deleted the sync software on the PC, reinstalled newly downloaded sync software, unfortunaltely, no change. That left me the HTC Desire HD without contact info.

My PC is a Lenovo ThinkPad X61s with Windows 7. Before I have changed to HTC desire, I was using a BlackBerry 9000 without any sync troubles (I have re-activated the BlackBerry because of the missing contact info).

Maybe somebody in the forum has experienced a similar problem and knows a procedure how to correct the trouble.

Thank you.

Outlook syncing is best done via My Phone Explorer.

Hi sakai4eva, thank you for the help. I have already downloaded the software and I think it is working great. It syns well with the desktop application and the HTC phone. Now I need to figure out how to connect and sync with MS Outlook. Maybe you have an idea? Thanks a lot, RolfE

Well, I'm glad it got sorted. I really wish someone would do a full write-up about using MPE to sync the phone with Outlook.

I guess the developer is busy developing, so maybe we should do the job for him :-)
MyPhoneExplorer certainly appears to have solved a lot of the issues I had with the awful HTC Sync.

Hi guys, after haven taken the time to went through the MPE it was pretty simple:

open     MPE
click on FILE
click on SETTINGS
go to    SYNC
select   CONTACTS: OUTLOOK 2007 (thats what I needed)
select   CALENDAR: OUTLOOK 2007 (same here)
go to    ADVANCE for CONTACTS and select SYNC MODE
go to    ADVANCE for CALENDER and select SYNC MODE
click     OK
and that worked well for me.
After all I like MPS very much and will place a donation for the developers.
Enjoy :-)

Ok. Now, does anybody else have a question? This seems like a legit solution, so I'm gonna sticky this and move it over to the How-To section.

There are two applications one for the Windows PC and one for the Android device. Sounds as though you have tried to install one on the other.
