Hi All,

First post. I have a Vodafone Desire HD (Australian Vodafone). I find the apps and things Vodafone have done to the phone terrible...So, basically what I was wondering if it is possible to put the stock standard HTC Desire HD ROM from HTC on the phone without Vodafone's crap basically. So...

1. Is this possible or do I have to use some kind of custom funky ROM someone has put together?
2. If I put on the stock ROM, will I still be able to get OTA updates as normal?
3. Where can I find said stock ROM? Smiley

I've tried searching, but can't find a reliable source for the Stock HTC Desire HD ROM. Any help would be appreciated Cheesy If there's another thread with this info already posted, sorry in advance. I couldn't find it.

Stock roms:
http://developer.htc.com/

These aren't the operator ones - though not sure if it makes a difference.
You should still be able to get an update if only rooted, and no other changes made, however that update will probably disable your root. If you want to root, you really do have to go the alternative rom route.

Take a look for Rom Kitchen - not sure if its still available, but I know you used to be able to cook up your own Android rom including and excluding certain parts. Of course there is nothing stopping you building your own UI over the vanilla android - or you could use a dev rom and just add a theme.

Thanks for the advice Smiley Yes gold card seems to be the way to go as I don't think I want to use Custom ROMs at this point, just HTC's standard one. Thanks.

Ah OK. So with this. Looking at my phone it says:

Baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Build/Software number: 1.32.178.5

So I should get: RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed.exe

Which would be for my baseband version, and give me the stock HTC ROM at version 1.32.405.6 Smiley

As you can see I have done this many times ... not Tongue

Thanks for the help again Smiley

hey

if your device is

Baseband version: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Build/Software number: 1.32.178.5

i prefer go for

RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed.exe

with this your device will be

Baseband version: 12.28e.60.140FU_26.04.02.17_M2
Build/Software number: 1.72.405.3

and this is a stock htc rom. issue of camera camcoder hd recording fix.

REMEMBER TO CREAT GOLD CARD BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS ROM.

Is the gold card needed only if you have a branded Rom?

I have just burned the Rom on mine by just using the RUU exe to restore deleted stock apps with no problems.  I didn't use a gold card

Hmm, well I bought a 2GB SanDisk Micro SD card, went through the process of creating a gold card (how do you know if it is working?). After doing the Hex edit on the card I was able to put it back in the PC and it was recognised OK. But, when I try run the RUU package, I get an error. The phone boots to a HTC screen and the RUU says it is sending the files, then I get:

Error [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR

The ROM Update Utility cannot update your android phone.

Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.

I assume this means my gold card is not working?

This was the guide I followed for the gold card: http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/

Hi all,

I've been struggling for a while to understand the complexities of rooting/flashing my Desire HD and to put it bluntly I'm overwhelmed with all the terminology around on some of these forums, most of which I don't understand at all. I'm looking to simply install the stock HTC Rom onto my Desire HD to remove the network branding. I have so far managed to create a goldcard, but not sure what the next step would be...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers,

Dave

Thanks matey!

Yeah I scrapped the goldcard idea and did a permroot and ended up flashing a custom rom onto the phone, using this guide here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=11557769

I was basically scared to take the plunge before since I had no idea what some terms and processes meant. Even now I'm still fairly clueless but at least it worked and my phone isn't a brick!
